QMISS Playground is a 580 sqm, 7.6-meter-high Guochao-themed family entertainment space in Rizhao, Shandong. Inspired by local cultural landmarks and traditional Chinese architecture, LUCKYPLAY integrates layered architectural forms, contemporary colors, and multi-level play structures to create an immersive indoor playground that combines cultural identity, exploration, and family interaction.
Shandong has a strong visual identity—from historic architecture and traditional landscapes to landmark destinations that are familiar to local families.
Instead of reproducing these places literally, LUCKYPLAY abstracted their architectural language.
Rooflines become playful silhouettes.
Layered buildings become climbing and exploration structures.
Traditional forms are simplified into child-friendly spatial elements.
Color is used not simply for decoration, but to distinguish areas, create visual rhythm and strengthen the overall identity of the venue.
The result is a contemporary interpretation of culture—one that feels rooted in Shandong while remaining relevant to today's family entertainment market.
In a 580㎡ venue, every square meter has a commercial role.
The planning strategy therefore starts with movement, rather than individual attractions.
The layout separates major activity routes while maintaining visual connections between different areas. Children can move vertically and horizontally through the space, while parents retain opportunities to observe activity without following every movement point.
The 7.6m height becomes particularly important.
Instead of treating the ceiling volume as unused overhead space, LUCKYPLAY develops a vertically layered environment that increases perceived scale without requiring a larger footprint.
